All traction control does is prevent you from spinning your wheels thus preventing you from *loosing* *traction* providing a safer driving experience.

In the old days (and traction control has been around since the 60's- on cars like the grand prix) it was done rather expensively with the rear differential, mechanically. Now- electronic sensors in the wheels detect wheel spin and use the already available anti-lock brake system to stop wheels from spinning and transfer power to the alternate wheel. Less expensive and every bit as effective (if not more so) than the old differential based design.

yes there is,,i own a repair shop,and its a feature that you can get on a lot of gm cars now ,its not limited to the grand prix any more,and really never was ,it was just there best seller at the time,and it came as standard equipment on some of the nicer grand prix,s,but gm is offering it now in a lot of there vehicles,i was surprised at how much difference it made in the driving of one that had it ,at first it felt weird.but it is a good feature to have,,good luck,i hope this help,s.,and have a good thanksgiving.anyone know of a book or website concerning adr (carriage of dangerous goods)?
