In a 2-stroke engine, the exhaust gasses are cleared from the cumbustion chamber at the same time as the fresh petrol/air mixture is drawn in, unlike a 4-stroke engine, where they happen in separate strokes (hence the extra strokes). The disadvantage of 2-strokes is that you have unburn fuel going out with the exhaust, or exhaust gasses remaining along with the fresh fuel. This leads to wastage and pollution (but a lot more power, as the engine fires twice as often as a 4-stroke, and a very quick revving engine, as it has very few moving parts). Another disadvantage is that oil is mixed with the fuel, so oil is always being burnt, another pollution causer. Specific to cars, two stroke engines work well at smaller capacities, but not with larger capacity engines. With the march of time, the advantages of a 2-stroke are negated by large capacity 4-strokes that run a lot cleaner.

not really many advantages, just more power (hey, that's really not such a bad thing!). but 4 stroke motors get better fuel economy and pollute less. right now the ATV, snomobile, and PWC makers are converting to 4 stroke motors for the same reasons.

I drive a bently flying spur and i am only 17?

Two strokes have many advantages when it comes to power vs. displacements but the ecologicale disadvantages do not make them feasible. They need a oil to gas mix for lubrication and since it would be nearly impossible to make them all the same buying gas for them would be a nightmare to say the least. They do not burn clean enough to adhere to EPA guidelines for passenger cars which is why 2 stroke bikes are not street legal either.

another reason for why car makers do not use two stroke engines is becaues you have to mix the oil into the gas
