Question:
I know its been cold enough so that raised the question with a friend and I of how long should you warm your ride and why? We watched some people leaving for work and some warmed for 10 minutes and one even warmed for 45 min. So what do you think?

What are the disadvantages to the new Hybrid cars?
With modern cars, and the modern motor oil we use nowadays, it is safe to drive a car almost immediately after starting (as long as you are easy on the throttle). You can wait longer to allow your heater to warm up, but there is no real need anymore to let a vehicle warm up for longer than 5 minutes. You're just wasting gas.20 minutes..
Why do I have to wait for the future cars of 2058?
You shouldn't. You should drive off straight away but keep the revs sensible untill it reaches normal temp. The faster the engine reaches opperating temp the better and driving along steadily does this much quicker than letting it sit and tick over.Do you think it would work better if you could record your own voice in your car alarm?
Its not necessary to warm up your vehicle before driving it.What was the 1st car ever made & when?
well, some people have to warm up their car because it won't go anywhere until they warm it up. but the newer car are fuel injected, and those are made to add more fuel to the engine while the engine is cold, so you can drive the car right away without the engine hesitating or dieing. but if you really want to warm it up, then I'd say warming it up for about a minute or two will be OK until the oil lubricates the engine fully before putting any load on it. technician for over 25 years. hope this helpssometimes, especially when its cold, some people don't want to drive the car until the engine is fully warm so they can use the heater before they drive. that's probably why they warm it up for so long because their too cold to drive. but its a good idea also not to put too much load on the engine while its cold.
its good to warm up a vehicle for about 5 to 10min on cold days so the oil is good and warm.
i warm my car up about 15 or 20 minutes before i start out, especially in the winter.
The engine will actually warm faster if you drive it. Under load, it will work a little harder and therefore warm faster. You are not doing any harm to the engine if you just start it and let it warm for a minute of so. All it needs is to get the oil moving around all the mechanical parts and your good to go.
What's the current gas price per gallon at the moment in the US.?
One caveat... I'd want to see the needle move just a little before getting on the highway.
yes you do want to warm your engine thing work alot better at normal temp depends how cold 20 to30 min this gives the engine &tranny time to come to reg temp tranny does get warmer when your going down the road but verry cold puts more stress on things!
