Emergency signaling while driving?

Question:
I've heard in the past that putting a white towel out of your window while driving asks other drivers to courteously move out of the way as you must get somewhere fast (emergency situations...not long lines at Starbucks). Has anyone heard of such a method, and, if not, are there any other ways someone has heard of?

Why are gas prices so high right now? What reasons are given for this gouging?

Thanks, as always, 10 pts...

Is it okay for teens of 13 and 14 years to drive? cuz i do have a car and i'm 14?

A white towel? I believe that will have no effect (never heard of that). Different states have different laws/rules about basic traffic operation (ie. in the north slower traffic must remain to the right). I believe an emergency situation does not allow you to "bend" traffic rules (though an officer may use his discretion in this instance). BUT, if your in a hurry and are unable to call 911 and need medical attention or some other unusual situation, I would attempt to flash your lights and honk at any vehicle that may be obstructing your traffic flow (ie. old people driving 10 miles under the speed limit in the left lane). If your situation is NOT an emergency (ie you are running late for work and someone is taking their time in your path), try flashing your lights a couple times... if that doesnt work try a small honk or two (dont lay on the horn).

I have never heard of such a thing.

No, a white towel doesn't work. Even if you put on your hazard lights, it does not excuse you from following traffic rules. The best thing to do in an emergency is to call 911 and get a police escort.

yes you hold a red and white towel out the drivers side. but nowadays you use strobe lights and the blue light if you are in need of getting somewhere but u must be (EMS) to use those.

If someone co-signs for an automobile can someone else find out through public records?

I've never heard of that, and I've been driving a long time. A white flag usually means you "surrender" - maybe you're surrendering to the cops.

Can I put 16" or 17" wheels on a stock 82 corvette without making any modifications?

i had to get somewhere fast and then i got pulled over, when i explained that i had an emergency the police escorted me where i had to go. he then suggested calling a police escort prior, he never mentioned a white towel. if it was still authorized im sure he would have told me.
