Can anyone recommend the safest and cheapest service to get my car from washington dc to LA?

Question:
I don't care whether the car is driven or shipped on a truck or train, I just want it to get there safely and cheaply. I also want to be able to have my books and other random stuff shipped inside it. I'd appreciate any referrals, and I'd also appreciate any recommendations as to companies/shipping methods that I shouldn't use. Thanks.

What to do with my car, please help me?

We shipped our car from Philadelphia to San Francisco and didn't heed this warning and we were very sorry - Don't use a firm based in NY or FL. They are notorious for screwing up - I can't tell you how many stories I heard after my car arrived here totalled with a seized engine because they somehow drained the oil and left it running. I have heard stories of cars arriving in a crumpled ball after the chain snapped on a carrier etc.

Car - names?

My mother used a shipper based in Bucks County PA and she was very happy - her car arrived quickly and freshly washed even. I don't think this was the most expensive method but it wasn't the cheapest. We took the cheapest from a FL firm and lost the car.

Road congestion?

I will also tell you that most shippers don't want you to put anything into the car, like books or boxes. They can't protect the stuff from theft and the extra weight is a problem. I didn't find a service that would drive the car out here - maybe they would let you pack stuff in the car. Best of luck to you!

Opinions please?

Peace!

Definitely have your car shipped. Don't let ppl drive your car coast to coast even if cheaper. I once had ppl drive my car and they ruined the car and stole most of the things inside (of course, they denied any knowledge if what happened). Putting your books and household stuff in your car is risky and I would guess that every co. would say that they are not responsible for the contents. It's hard to say which co. is good. So many of the local numbers are actually local companies that are just agents for bigger companies. If you are up to it, consider driving the car yourself (but allow enough time) and use it as an opportunity to see our country. The southwest desert is beautiful and the scenery in person is much better than seeing it on tv or in books. Stop driving in the early evening and get an early start in the am. Night driving is very dangerous (poor visibility, drunk drivers, etc.).

What is the make and model of the car Marcus (Indi's assistant) drives in Raiders of the Lost Ark?

Advertize in the paper and on Craigslist. Find a college student on east coast who lives in Calif (good luck with that). Give him gas money and motel money for a three day trip (minimum). Chances are he will shell it out and you can collect insurance money on it.
Why don't you just drive it?

Does bologna really take paint off cars?

i own a shop and you can hire a private driver to get it there, that's really the cheapest way to do it ,there's usually a few company's that have drivers that do this you might try looking in the yellow pages or something,a lot of people just hire someone they know and trust to do this, and pay all the expenses, its not the cheapest but sometimes the best way to do this, good luck with it i hope this helps.
