How much would 22s hurt the fuel efficiency of a hybrid?

I'm thinking of getting a hybrid, but I don't know how much the efficiency would drop if I put some big rims on it.

As long as you don't change tire's full diameter, you can change rims all you want. On the other hand, some hybrids have their tires and wheels specially designed to safe fuel, such as the Toyota Prius or the little Honda.

Anoybody know about the KIA Sportage?

Something like Saturn Vue Greenline, which is a rather lousy hybrid (it's not even a true hybrid) can probably take your large rims as it's a compact SUV, but... why?

If you are going to do that you should of saved your money and bought a non-hybrid car. If you put those wheels on it you won't be saving much money on gas. You may even lose some.
