How do you balance the clutch and oil in manual cars?

i have trouble when moving the car from gear 1 as the engine most of the time will stop running. are you supposed to release the clutch and not step on the oil or what?

Well first off, I don't know what the "oil" is. We call it the gas pedal. In order to go from 1st to 2nd, you must engage the clutch and at the same time take your foot off the gas. Once the clutch is engaged and your foot is all the way off the gas, shift. After shifting, take your foot off the clutch while at the same time giving a little gas. It is the process for all the gears. With driving a stick shift, the only thing that will make you better is practice.
