It's still somewhat open to debate that the Veyron is the fastest production car. When launched, it had a CLAIMED top speed of 252 mph, but had only been tested to 230 mph. The Koenigsegg CCX was released with a proven top speed of 245 mph.So, I guess if you go by the figures, the CCX is the 2nd fastest production car in the world, however, there is also the possibility that it is in fact No. 1.

Oh, and the 249.2 mph is not officially recognised as a production car record, it was a track prepared, stripped model. Oh, and BHP isn't everything. Weight to power ratio is the key. The CCX has 806 Bhp, but has 683 Bhp per tonne. The Veyron is "only" 561 Bhp per tonne.

Depends on how you class "fastest". Some are quicker 0-60, some are faster on the 1/4 mile some are quicker on a track. my view? Me p***ed in a Reliant Robin on a Saturday night! The cops had to run REAL quick to catch me THAT NIGHT!Seriously tho, the upcoming Bristol Fighter T2 should be damned quick. More BHP than the Veyron but not as aerodynamic.
