Will there ever be a road link from England to France?

Question:
this is a question purely because Im curious...does anyone with any knowledge of engineeering or archictecture, think that there could theoretically be a road link between Dover and Calais? A road tunnel perhaps? or even a suspension bridge? a suspension bridge would really be something! Is it scientifically possible ( I think the distance is about 19 miles )?
