Gps selection -- influencing the route calculated?

Question:
hi. i am in the market to buy a GPS device.

How much does a fully loaded 18 wheeler rig weigh and how long would it take to stop it at say 55 mph.?

two things that i feel are important to me, having tried two car gps systems.
1. ability to influence the route taken by the GPS. for e.g., while getting into NY, I might want to specify which tunnel I want to use.
2. getting spoken street names as opposed to turn left in 500 ft.
