Question:
Why aren't they designed in a more aerodynamic shape?
Answers:
Where do i park for free between london and watford or milton keynes?
The front windows of buses are very large, so the driver can see down in front of the bus (so as not to hit anybody). Flat windshields are much, much cheaper to manufacture than curved ones, so it's probably a matter of saving bucks.the same reason a cat has an butt.It just does.If I had to guess it is so they can see the children crossing the road easier.
Big windows equal better visuals of the surrounding space. Since most transit buses aren't designed for speed due to frequent stops.larger field of view is desirable.
Over the road buses..designed for hwy speeds have the same visual requirements..however the windshield is smaller.
Areodynamics are negligible when you have that much mass speeding down a road.
Please HELP!! What to do with stolen car, stripped and being charged 1500 by towing company??
The flat back is just as aerodynamic as the flat front. Also, busses nowadays have the driver doubled as conductor, meaning that the large door must be at the front.Busses with front mounted engines don't have vertical front windows.
