Really there are only two American auto companies left, Ford and GM. Chrysler used to be American but is now German. Ford is probably the worst. For 2006, they reported record losses. Although GM losses were large too, GM seems to be restructuring and turning the corner quicker than Ford. Additionally, GM's new product development appears to be more in line with being able to compete with Japanese and European auto makers.
