Do I need a transcooler if I install a trailer hitch on my 2005 Pilot?
Because the Enviro-Nazi's find it politically correct to penalize the owners of SUV's and larger cars! You know?...The Global warming thing! They would probably accomplish more,if they pushed the marketplace into producing more fuel efficient Large Vehicles and/or Hybrid SUV's! The technology is there,it's just a matter of getting it into action-while keeping the cost of the vehicle...reasonable! Most people who own the larger vehicles, don't consider themselves "environmentally unfriendly" because alot of them are avid outdoor enthusiasts, and live in the countryside-or go out to it! Also...a family of three-or more children, are not going to find it too practical to fit their family into a Honda Civic or a Toyota Prius etc! But anyways, that is how I view the situation! The problem is with the SUV with a single woman in the driver's seat. There's nothing particularly irritating about a big family driving around in one. This question is kinda weird...?
The theory goes that most cars, SUV or compact, spend 90% of their life being driven by one person only. What are the most economical cars available?
Try an experiment- watch the road for a few minutes and count the number of SUVs with more than 2 people in them. You'll probably be surprised.
Is it risky to buy a '99 Chrysler with 184k miles?
SUV owners seem to be penalized because they chose to purchase the much larger and heavier vehicle that is not nearly as gas efficient as a smaller compact car including a sports car. Sports cars may get better mileage, however, the mileage you are quoting does not compute when the morons get behind the wheel of the sports car and drive insanely. The faster the starts and stops the faster the gas is burned and this causes the sports car to get less mpg than you quote.Smoked head lights & tail lights laws in California?
90% of SUV owners I see drive them with no passengers most of the time. Makes me wonder what they really have under the hood?Is cruise control more eficient?
Thumbs up to Imposter, it's the boneheads that in no way NEED something big like that which irritate people. Got a family of 50? FINE go drive a bus around, see if I care! What does it mean when you slip the clutch?
sure I drive alone when I go to work .I am not a rich kid I can only afford one auto payment and that auto must take care of all my needs like Work family chores etc. The only thing these little Eco friendly autos are fit for is hauling some skinny A-s-s-ed tree hugger around With nothing better to do than look down their nose at a working man who is doing the best he can with what resources he has.How high will the price of gas go this summer?
What's to make you think that the SUV with the 1 person in it didn't just drop off a bunch of kids at their games, school, or house, and is now being used by the 1 driver to grocery shop while the kids are elsewheres. When they go to pick up the kids or after they are dropped off, it seems that no one else uses them. Or that the 1 man driving the SUV doesn't use it to drop off and pick up his coworkers. Or that the church soccer mom & dad are picking up people and dropping them off on Sundays and maintaining inbetween. It gets awfully crowded in a tiny car with 2-3 people getting groceries and/or going on vacation with different needs.
There are some people, though who like the big vehicles, even though the smaller ones give more mpg.
I guess the bigger the vehicle and the more it pulls the more gas it has to eat up, just for that very reason, that's it's bigger, weighs more, and probably something to do with how fast or how much the tires have to rotate or how much they cover when driving. The smaller more compact car eats up less gas, especially when it has less weight it has to carry.
What's the next car you want to purchase?
The average family does not have five children! There are sedans that carry 5 comfortably and get far better mileage than any of the large SUVs. The average Durango or Expedition never goes off-road, and spends half the time ferrying a brief case or a couple of bags of groceries. I am one of 3 boys, and the family did quite will in a compact station wagon, then a Volkswagen van. I have not driven a vehicle that gets only 12 mpg since 1969. I have not driven a vehicle that gets only 22 mpg since 1978.What does column stiffer and gated stiffer mean in a truck?
While people are always going to be angry about what someone else has, you can and should have the choice of what you drive. I don't believe that the government, or a private individual has the right to tell you what to drive. Saying this, people should have enough sense to live simply so that others can simply live. I drove a compact car when gas was cheap because this all I felt that I needed. Several of my former coworkers criticized me viciously for not driving a pickup truck or SUV. I didn't want to pay for the gas then, or now. While they complained about paying $75 or $80 to fill up, I was paying less than $30 a week.More Questions & Answers ...
