Question:
the tire it's slef is bigger now the rim. they are not stock tires. i am now sure what size they are. it's for a 99 chevy tahoe
Answers:
With bigger tires in diameter, you might get better mileage on the highway, but worst mileage in the city. You top speed will be greater, forget about what the speedometer says.
The answer is Yes and this is why:
When your tires are larger than the stock tires the wheel gets less revolutions per mile, this will make your odometer read a lower number than is should and will make it seem like your gas mileage is very low. Smaller tires work the opposite way. And always remember to properly inflate your tires. This will increase your gas milage by eliminating rolling resistance.
Why LPG/CNG powered cars are not popular?
Tires can change your mileage only at the Speedometer. The speedometer is calibrated for the tire size that came with your car. If you go a size too large or too small you change how your speedometer will read. They will also take more time to travel or less time depending on size. The smaller the tire the faster they will turn and the higher the RPM's will be to keep the car moving. This will affect your mileage. Same with over sized tires the weight more and take more power to turn but take longer to complete the rotation you MPH will show slower then your actual speed. This gives the illusion that you’re not getting as good of mileage because your Odometer is showing fewer miles then what you have actually covered.Anyone ever heard of mpg caps?
As long as the rolling diameter is the same the change should be negligable,What is your Dream Car of 2007?
If you went from a 70 series tire (ie P205/70R15) to 50 series tire (ie P290/50R20) as long as the math works it shouldn't matter.
How big of a rim can i put on ford explorer?
Now, its possible to go from a "grippy" tire to a "non-grippy" tire and improve fuel ecomony, at the expense of performance. You could go from a P235/60VR16 to a P235/60R16 which would last 60000 miles rather than the former's 45000 miles but wouldn't provide the same handling (ie cornering) as the former.
What type of truck is the best?
Technically the bigger the wheels (tires) the faster you can go however the less power/acceleration you can get. Thats why you have little wheels in Formula one racing cars and such.Don't put extremely big tires/wheels, there are more things to concider. Its better to stay safe with the tires and wheels the car was made for. You may kill the engine sometimes or heat it up as a cause of larger wheel radius.
