Question:
I want you to compare these cars made almost 20 years apart and tell me what you think. The first one is a 1989 Honda Civic CRX HF.

The other cars are 2007 Hybrids

With almost 20 years of advancements in car technology since the introduction of the Honda CRX, most of these new super gas saver hybrids still can't touch the statistics of a 1989 car. The CRX got better mileage and was better on the environment than all the hybrids except the Prius. And the Prius barely beat the CRX.
Why can't we make cars with that kind of mileage today? Why can't we make cars that are as good to the environment today? Why are they not still making these CRX's? Lastly, what can we do about it?

Where can I find stickers that make fun of muscle cars?
1989 -- that was eighteen years ago and vehicles are now laden with mandatory safety devices that were unheard of back then. I owned a 1972 Datsun 110 that got 40+ MPG. It had no side impact beams, minimum brake system, no electronic fuel injection system, no airbags, no on board computers, no AC, no power ANYTHING, no antilock brakes or traction control and a bare-bones interior. It was little more than a go-kart with a windsheild and the idea of owning a high mileage vehicle when fuel was only 67 cents a gallon seems like idiocy now. Every year automakers raise the bar in vehicle safety and comfort and pay the penalty in weight gain and fuel mileage. It's no secret or conspiracy, just plain old physics. If the buying public would stand for a stripped-down vehicle with no creature comforts, rock hard suspension and exposed carbon fiber interior panels we could driving 70 mpg cars tomorrow. There's any way to arrive in England (ex: by train or by ship) bringing my car or van there?
HAHAHA, that's soo funny!!Can my truck survive 35miles on a main highway going 65-70mph?
Why can't we make cars with that kind of mileage today?
-Because the manufacturers own the oil companies and since they do, they want their cars to get as little MPG as possible to make more money and then raise fuel prices through the roof for no reason. To top it off, they make their cars cheap, so they will break faster and the engines will burn up easier.
Why can't we make cars that are as good to the environment today?
-Because it's not profitable for the BIG GUYS.
Those experienced with tint, please help?
Why are they not still making these CRX's? Lastly, what can we do about it?
-Nothing, except not only don't buy their new cars, but buy used cars that get really good fuel milage like your CRX or a diesel car.

-Yes, the CRX probably is a small car that you would get in a wreck and die in because it's flimsy, I GUESS, but there are NEW cars today that are flimsier and smaller like the mini cooper for instance. Oh and who cares about that fancy shmancy stuff like heated and vibrating drivers seats with surround sound stereo with a GPS system and a car that can practically drive itself because of all that unnessesary technology in it that practically makes it a car version of "The Space Shuttle". I would personally want a really big 4000pound go-cart with no electronics in it, all I want is the seats, gauges and simple stereo for the interior luxuries that got really good milage and thats it.

-Oh and if you stripped these new 200-250HP cars down to the bone enough to make it drivable, it wouldn't even come close to getting 70MPG, they wouldn't even get 40MPG, not by a long shot.
