What car is the best for a teen?
My recomendation is a bit more specific:
1. 2dr or 4 dr no preference
2. manual or auto trans- manual any day the auto isn't much(only a 3 spd) and not much fun
3. ABS vs Non-ABS- Non ABS preferred less expensive parts to go bad and you need to learn how to drive properly anyway. (ABS Control Module electroHydraulic Unit is about $800). There is no design flaw in the Brakes of a Neon. There were quality concerns over the front brake calipers when new, would guess most have been changed to after market rebuilt ones by now. That would only set you back about $250 for new rotors pads and calipers anyway.
4. headgaskets- yep weak point- Chrysler/Dodge have a multi-layer steel replacement gasket that is just flippin great! If it has one in it already, the problem is cured. regular gaskets last about 30K miles before the main oil gally to the head blows part of it out and dumps lots of oil on the ground. A good mechanic can see which is installed! Gotta love that?
5. get the best body you can afford!
6. Junk yards are full of slavaged ones all over the USA and used parts are readily available

If its an older neon you probably want to avoid it, they had a lot of problems with stuff like head gaskets etc.I know this sounds retarded, but...?
I would have to say No.The Plymouth Neon is the same exact car as the Dodge Neon. There both owned by Chrysler. They dropped the Plymouth namebrand year's ago which tell's me it's one of the first Neon models and they were not very good cars. I don't know the original price.
Other than head gaskets going bad, they have brake problems. The brakes squeel badly on all of them and there's no fix for the problem. It's just a bad design.
Im a chevy guy, but wont talk bad about ford, and most imports. But I would never buy, or tell someone to buy a dodge product. If you see a car on the road with a blown head gasket it most likely is a dodge. They are also known for bad transmisions. Dont do it. Try a toyota, honda, chevy, ford, you usualy can get the most car for your money from them. Before you buy any used car you should take it to a certified mechanic to have it inspected. It will cost money to have this done, but it may save you even more. read consumer reports on what your looking at. Good luck.

No it is not. Plymouth was not dropped, they were split off and formed their own company. I do not believe they are still make, but yes a dodge neon is the same thing. Also, the dodge neon was discontinued as well.they are pieces of garbage
