big , gas waster's ,We get over 200,000 miles on a lot of our vehicles, and they are all fords and Chevys. You people that piss and moan and American cars being gas guzzlers don't look at the numbers. You can get as many American 30+mpg four cylinder cars as you can foreign cars. Our lumina with a V6 can get 30mpg. In fact Ford's Fusion V6 gets better mileage than the accord or camry V6s, and it costs less.

I think also that American cars are crap. I am and American and I like European cars best they are more reliable and they don't break as often. My mom drives a GMC Yukon XL and the rear seat belts are messed up the tachometer recently broke and it's only like two years old!! Many problems with American junk.its just you American cars have came back and strong i believe there are mor junk foreign cars being produced today than American cars if your American born and raised here you should be ashamed of yourself if foreign cars are so much better go live in a foreign country if your not American born your opinion really doesn't matter to me if your going to live in my country you better never bad mouth anything about America to my face U S A the greatest country in the world.

The Jeep Cherokees are nice looking and have good interiors, but other than that, I can't hink of many that I like. They tend to have really wide turning-circles too, which makes them useless for British roads. My 1994 Chevy Caprice has 313,000 on it without a lick of engine or tranny problems. It even has the original ball joints and steering parts on it!!what do you think of new supra pictured in link?
American cars have had problems in the past. However, the car of the year and the truck of the year for 2006 are both American made (Saturn Aura and the Chevy Silverado). I wouldn't call them "crap", but several years ago, I feel they were quite a ways behind the Japanese and European cars. However, I think that in the last 2-3 years, things are changing. Most people think Toyota and Honda are the "ultimate" cars. I have nothing against either company, but they are mass producing so many vehicles in the last few years (to keep up with consumer demands), that they are beginning to have a lot of problems also. IMHO, I think you could flip a coin as far as quality goes on any new vehicle. I would say that American cars are very good in their place, which is of course America. Where roads are long and generally straight and gasoline is relatively cheap. I have spent a lot of time driving in both America and Europe, I really wouldn't want to drive a European car over there and it would be just plain scary to drive an American car in Europe (the size issue alone would mean many American cars just wouldn't fit down roads where I live). Don't forget the sheer scale of America means vast distances can be racked up with very little effort. And for this vast distance, would you want a small 4 cylinder motor humming away and gradually sending you insane - or the deeper, much more agreeable thrum of a V6 or V8 hardly ticking over to keep you at the speed limit?What is the difference between alloy wheels and normal wheels?

Most Toyota's, Honda's, Nissan's, Masada's, Subaru's that are sold in the United States are made in the United States. If you don't believe it, check the first character of your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). If it starts with a 1 or a 4, it was made in the USA. If it starts with a J, it was made in Japan.Are the Americans building these cars any more talented than the Americans building the Chevy's, Fords and Chrysler's. I don't think so.

I've owned (with my husband) 4 Chevs, 1 Ford (still have), 1 Nissan (still have) and 1 Mazda (still have).
The best one? The Ford. It was built in 1969, when ANY CAR was built right, not mass produced robot created wheeled machines.
Will I buy another American car? Depends. Times have changed, and a company name doesnt necessarily denote quality anymore. I buy it because I like it, I dont give a damn who built it. Or whose machines built it rather, pardon me...
There's no question they are generally cheap tacky junk, on the roads a Mondeo would run rings around most American cars. But when they get it right they really do. If you get a good American car it really is great fun even if the materials they build their cars out of we use to pack tic-tacs!

Im sure that modern american cars are much the same as every other car on the market but I have owned a couple over the last 10 years and found altough the build quality poor the drive train and general reliabilty excellent.It you are basing you ideas on other people's opinions it's just you. If you have done some comparative testing on "Most American Cars" you may be on to something. Cars are bought for many reasons besides basic transportation and are usually not maintained as well the enginneers would like. If someone I know complains about a quality issue I first look at how the car has been maintained.
