I noticed when I get to 85mph my power flattens out. Is that the way it is with most of you?

The faster you go, the more power it takes to maintain speed and accelerate. Wind resistance is increasing by the square of your speed.

If you go to 2nd gear at 85, youll have a great story for the "when I was a kid" moments, but youll be left without a transmission (if you dont wreck). You may have a limiter/governer on your engine or built in to the computer... only lets your go so fast.. I dont know of any that are as low as 85, but with speed limits in the US, thats about as fast as you would ever have the need to go, so i wouldnt doubt it.
