My nephew and his wife have a car that is not running.?
Interesting question, it does sound simpler than they're making it. I have a few theories...We pay income tax, fuel tax and the government wish us to pay more. when do we say NO MORE?
First, the gasoline/oil industry appears to enjoy making a lot of money, and has a significant lobbying presence.
My Car doesn't have a chassis number?
Second, some of the technologies that enable improvements are expensive, some are not fully developed/validated, and some come with performance trade-offs. Most people, given two essentially equivalent cars, would select the one with better gas mileage. But what if that one has a $300 extra price tag? Or $5000? What if is stalls occassionally because it's running too lean? What if was "gutless"? Then for some people, the decision is harder.
If a car parking ticket has incorrect details on it about your car, can it invalidate the fine?
That's not to say that all of the improvements come with significant burdens, many of the technologies are, or should be, out there now without a significant downside.
Are cars cheaper in kansas or missouri?
Consumers don't like to be told what to buy, and the car companies have to provide what we demand, or they lose market share. Hence the large percentage of SUV's on the road, although that trend is thankfully shifting a bit.
Does the thought of your car breaking down while driving across the country make you apprehensive?
The other problem is that all this is slow, minor improvement... the industry struggles for fractions of an MPG in many cases (we've been "optimizing" the ICE engine for almost 100 years now...). Hopefully some of the revolutionary technologies will start REALLY showing up with better batteries & cheaper fuel cells so that we can see some real improvements!
How much do truck drivers get paid by the mile?
cause people "like" muscle in their cars . . I personally would not like driving a gutless car.Is it illegal to park on a private road?
With the limited amount of fossil fuels, it would be wise to stretch them out as far as possible before they run out. The only people that would benefit from not passing the legislation would be the energy company's. If you look around the world, you would notice a problem with global warming, smog and acid rain. Would more efficient transportation not help in those areas? Everybody wants more power in there vehicles so human nature is the only thing that could stop it. This is going to be a one sided debate. How many miles per gallon does a 1999 Plymouth Gand Voyager get?
I think legislation is irrelevant. The government should not be a babysitter to the country. While many things they do are with good intention, frequently the execution of such legislation is merely more red tape bureaucracy. What are the fundamentals of towing?
It has been long known, and the technology has existed for quite some time, that electric motors are better suited to vehicle propulsion, can do so more effectively, at a lower cost, with longer life and considerably less maintenance.
Do 4 cylinder engines have problems going uphill?
Money is made on replacement (parts, cars) and maintenance required to keep an ICE running with any reliability. Not to mention the enormous amount of oil required by an ICE. These interests have a considerable impact and are dead-set on maintaining their income stream, plus they also have major political influence.
Why is it that cars tend to stall on R/R tracks?
If a company, such as Tesla for example, or companies put a superior product on the market, they could potentially put the others out of business. But that depends upon people interested in such things as low maintenance, low running cost, long life in their vehicles. The problem is most people don't care and/or buy into the marketing BS propagated by the automakers, oil companies, etc.
