93 Pontiac Grand Prix problematic?

Question:
I just got my parents Grand Prix, a step up from my old Geo Metro and they felt bad for giving it to me because it was realy "problematic". Is this true? Aparently the replace somthing every year and its in the thousands. I am car smart and can get my hands dirty and know what I am doing but this dose make me wonder. Dose anyone out there have any input on the subject. Perhaps you yourself have owned a Grand Prix of the same year or have heard of such issues... any input would be great.

Do car alarms really prevent theft?

I have a 1990 and a 1995 GP. I love them, but like any car when they get age and miles things begin to wear out. My 1990 has been a fantasic car and has over 300K miles on it and I got it when it was a 3 so I've had it 14 years now. It's needing struts now and the ones on it are the original struts. In the last couple of years I have started replacing some of the original stuff as it's finally wearing out, but the expense has been very minimal per year. My 1995 I've only had a little over a year but so far so good. GP have excellent strong engines in them as long as you maintain them with regular oil changes etc.
