why are sleeved cylinders used?

i am guestimating but i would say 30 to 50 thousand. this is why quality assurance has to be so tight. if you make parts and only one in 50 thousand are bad and every other makere of parts does the same thing, and a car has 50 thousand parts, that means every car coming off the assemply line has a bad part somewhere. you dont think it would be that many, but many are very small.
