I put some black tape covering 50% of my lights over my lincense plate, its still clearly visable, it used to be VERY bright, now it looks like most cars, but I am worried it might be illegal?

As long as it is visible, it is fine. It only becomes illegal when a person/cop can't identify your license plate number.Law says a light must shine on it.Does'nt say how moch.As long as you can see the plate when its dark.-

probably. my friend is a cop and he would pull people over for this. he says it would look like they are trying to hide their plates. this is ky and laws differ from state to state. so while it may not be illegal there, you may get pulled over a lot (if all cops think the same)while it may be illegal to pull you over for something that is legal, they'll find other (valid) reasons to cite.

Yes it is! I do DOT Inspections everyday. It is not in compliance with DOT regulations. All lights must be able to illuminate 100% after a certain time of evening. Just dont take a chance on getting pulled over by the law enforcement.is there a drivers seat for a freelander with an arm rest???

I do night driving, and the letter/numbers on the licence plates here are red, i ended up putting orange marker lights in replacement, its a fine reading, but it is visable. I get full light and all i have to say is if i get pulled over is that one bulb burned out a long time ago, and the other one just burned out, so i replaced them, but all the store had was orange, so i thought it would be SAFER then not havign any at all. The bulb number should be a 194. I work in a garage and this is the most common number for licence plate lights, I have seen very few that were different.More Questions & Answers ...
