the engine is a 318 with almost 200,000 miles i know i should rebuild the engine but i want to know if it would just be easier to buy a new engine to hold the power of the twin turbos?

Twin turbos would be a waste on a 318. A single turbo set up would give you more than enough boost to make it worth while. I'd probebly chose to build the engine myself in such a case, as it would be very expensive to buy one setup for a turbo, or blower. Twin turbo applications are popular on many of the newer diesels, and are in a tandem arrangement, ie; one pushes the other. The manifold pressure goes quite high, and would destroy a standard gasoline engine. You'll need to find out what compression ratio to use, check out different cam grinds, and make sure your timing is dead on. You'll be going from a neg. value (vaccum) to a positive (Manifold pressure). Your internal parts will have to be strong enough to take the extra strain placed on them by the pos. displacement. Make sure your turbo is equiped with a wastegate set at an acceptable pressure, or you'll trash your new engine. Get gauges, and learn what will be max values for manifold pressure, exhaust temp., engine oil temp. Don't forget about the transmission either, you can easily kill it with the extra torque from the engine. Do lots of research, and build carefully! Hope this helps - good luck!
