Question:
Two mechanics already told my friend that they have reduced the oxygen level in the gas-oxygen mixture in his car to reduce CO emission levels, and it doesn't make sense, stoichiometrically speaking. Is there something we're missing here?

A rich mixture will put out more hydrocarbons (unburnt fuel). This may have the effect of masking some of the CO on the analyzer they are using, but if it is used to get around a government emissions standard, you aren't really meeting the "spirit" of the law. Hydrocarbons can have just as bad or a worse effect on the environment than CO.makes no sense to me either..less ox means richer...more gas les ox means more polution.
can anyone tell me which country have the fastest police car in the world?
BELIEVE THE TWO MECHANICS I M THE THIRD THAT WILL TELL YOU THE SAMEDoes anybody know the legalities for underbody neon lights in North Dakota?
I think it makes sense in that a richer mixture... while supplying fewer oxygen molecules to the combustion process would seem on the surface to make MORE CO .. i think the rich mixture also tends to burn cooler than a lean one...and i think combustion temperatures are the key to CO v CO2 production.More Questions & Answers ...
