Im designing a sustainable residence, and one of the things to look at is the possibility that the future owner will have an electric car. So I want to account for it and install the correct plug in the garage. Does this plug have any special volt requriements or any other differences from a regular plug?

It will charge in 6 hours from a 220v plug. The ten-minute recharge option, if you want that, would be an expensive option - and would undoubtedly require some special wiring.
The Electric vehicles that GM and Toyota used to sell used a special inductive charging station/device that operated on 220 volts. There's no telling what the future holds...it may not be electric charging stations at all, but more hybrids or hydrogen fuel cells. If you want to plan for electric charging, I would advise to just wire the house with a 220V outlet adjacent to the driveway. Then you're prepared in case electric vehicles make a come back.
