What the other people forgot to mention was that all diesel engines come with turbo's now because diesels by nature have no off the line torque. Sure they are great at pulling stuff but they need the turbo to get off the line in a decent amount of time.

No. But most newer engines will to accommodate buyers' creature comforts. That way, if they intend to buy a diesel they know there will be some useable power. I had a small Mercedes-Benz without a turbo - very slow. About 0-60 in a weekend. You won't find that in newer cars, I can assure you.
