Can i put a 1962 235cid with hyd.lifters in a 1954 with standard trans?

Question:
i know that hyd.came with powerglide trans.( we're talking chevy). i want to go with the 62 motor due to it being quieter in comparison to the noisey solid lifters the the 54 motor with the standard trans.

no problem , just be shure that the '62 motor has the correct flywheel for your '54s transmission(auto. or std.) also be certain that you are using the correct voltage generator and starter. the '62 and '54 both had oil pumps so your original gauge will work , just be very carefull with that tiny copper tube

If the bell housings match, the engine won't care if it is a standard or automatic tranny behind it.
