our taxi firms have had a smoking ban forever!!! they also charge you £40 if you are sick in their cabs. at the end of the day it should be up to you to state the rules in your own car. if you are not a smoker then don't let anyone smoke

You do realise that even without a ban coming into force you (as a taxi driver) have the right to not allow people to smoke in your cab!! My friend's dad is a taxi driver and he has no smoking signs up in his cab. If people tried to smoke he would remind them that he does not allow smoking in his cab!!

Well, why don't you just do what most taxi drivers I know do, and ban smoking in your taxi? If it's your car then it is entirely up to you. You don't need the legal ban as you are perfectly entitled to set rules as to what is acceptable in your vehicle!
