Why do hybrids suck?

Question:
These vehicles are extremely ugky and dumb. i would never drive a hybrid unless its an escalade.

Answers:

Are axial flow (normal) fans the only type of fan used in engines or are other types, like centrifugal, used?

I think you are missing the point. The thing it doesn't suck is gas.

The bus is always better than the plane, wouldn't you agree?

lol, they're not for everyone. And they sure are ugky.

Where has Toyota Racing gone? RIP to the Celica Supra, MR2 and Corolla GTS.?

hybrids suck because one company started making them and so know everyone has to in my option gm don't deserve to mkae hyrids after getting rid of all those elctric ev1's gm sucks and should not be able to make anycars but yeah hybrids do suck

What's a better drive; automatic or manual?

hybrids are slow and horribly underpowered. and yeah they are ugky

Permit test! AHHH SCARED! help!!?

As a current Prius Owner... I dont think that they suck.
I will agree that they are different looking but that is one thing that I actually like about my car.

Is it illegal to park here, even if there are no signs?

I was stupid enough to buy a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid brand new. I was told that it would get 51 mpg highway and 46 mpg city. It looked just like a normal Civic, so the look was pretty nice. By the way, the horror vehicle cost me $4000 more than a regular civic would have.

Do you guys think I shout get the STI or something else. I want something fast, reliable, and, good mpg!?

The harsh reality was that I got a maximum of 42 mpg highway (complete highway, long road trips...tank to tank), and a consistent 22 mpg city. I even drove it completely in the city for 100 miles just to show Honda. They completely denied that anything was wrong even after trying to "fix" it for 3 times straight.

I would like to transport my car from US to Dubai. Is there a tariff that I have to pay in Dubai?

Other things wrong with it...if I wanted to go up a hill doing 65 on the highway...I had to realize that this just wasn't possible. So I had to downshift into 3rd gear (at 60) just to try and sustain my speed which slowly decreased until I reached a whopping 40 mph (boy were other drivers happy to be behind me!). And don't even think about putting on the AC if going uphill!

What does it mean when a car has (for example) a 2 litre engine? 2 litres of what? in where?

I also had mechanical problems with it...it would stall and wouldn't start up again (not the auto-off, it would stall completely).
I also had NO traction in snow at all due to the placement of the 300lb hybrid battery behind the back seat (which offset the benefit of the weight of the engine bearing down on a front wheel drive. In 1" of snow, I couldn't go up even the slightest slope if I stopped half-way through. I had to get a "running start", and hope that my velocity was enough to get the car up.
They had to replace my driver's side electric window motor because it would take about 30 full seconds to move about 6".
Bear in mind, this car was brand new. In RI, the lemon law is not enforced, so I couldn't get any lawyers to even call me back. The Attorney General's office said that they didn't handle lemon law issues. I was trapped.

What happens to the batteries in hybrid cars when they reach their life-expectancy?

I was treated HORRIBLY by the dealer, and by Honda corporate.

If the internal combustion engine had not been invented what would life be like today?

I traded in the beast for a 2001 Subaru Outback, and never looked back. I will never buy another Honda again (of any model), and have really been turned off of the hybrid technology due to my experience.

About car rental this price deffinately does not seem right, help lol?

Hybrids suck for three reasons: they are ugly, they are really only intended for stop and go traffic, and difficult to work on.

What does bienvidos mean ?

1) Ugly: Hybrids are horribly underpowered and therefore must have the super aerodynamic, generic body lines to be as fuel efficient and as fast as possible. I suppose that once they become more powerful and efficient, auto stylists will have more freedom to make them look better.

Who invented the vehicle?

2) Stop and go traffic: The electric motor disengages at over 20 mph or so. This means that if you are typically travel on the highway for hours at highway speeds, you spent $5k for features on your car that you don't even use. However, if your commute looks like the opening scene in the movie "Office Space," a hybrid might be for you.

How does fuel injection work?

3) Work on: Do you really trust your car mechanic? In my experience, they can barely work on a gas vehicle and get it right, which is technology that has been around for 100 years. These people typically barely passed high school and learned auto mechanics by rebuilding a Chevy 350 in the garage. So, now you are going to trust these mechanics to repair your super-high tech vehicle after they get a half day's training? I don't think so. With some time, this issue will disappear with time and mechanics become more better knowledgeable about hybrids.

Does anyone no?

IMO, I think diesel is the immediate solution to the fuel issues. Diesels are very fuel effecient (and powerful), are a real engine that can be worked on, and one can use a variety of fuels to run it. Twenty to thirty years or so out, the fuel technology will be hydrogen, which is actually an electric technology.

Can a diesel engine run bio diesel also?

Many years ago, The government mandated new safety features in cars. The major manufacturer did not want to add these features and said that the public did not want them. The automakers built prototypes that were so ugly and over-priced that no-one wanted one. All to convince the Government that the consumers did not want the safety features.
A fellow named Malcolm Bricklin said is was possible to build a vehicle that incorporated all the safety features and more, that the people would buy. So he developed the Bricklin SV-1 (Safety Vehicle 1) The SV-1 exceeded all the safety requirement,

What is the best muscle car ever made?

HIbrid vehicles are going through a similar phase. The automakers don't want to make them, but they have to to meet the Corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) requirements. So them make them expensive and strange-looking.

If Europeans drive on left side of the road, do they also enter double doors through left side?

The Toyota Prius is not the first hybird vehicle sold to the public. Honda offered the Insight in 2001. The first time I sawan Insight in my town, I thought is was a Citroen.

Hybrids suck because they cost a bunch more than a similar vehicle with a conventional power train.

Should tractors be taxed again?

Hybrids suck because their batteries will conk out when your vehicles get up into 6-figure mileage (100,000+) and will have to be replaced (some say at about $7,000).

Has anyone seen Chris Pineda?

Hybrids suck because small diesels (widely available worldwide, but limited here, in the US) can easily top 40 - 50 mpg at actual freeway speeds, without the extra weight, electronics, and at a fraction of the markup in price. Diesels also have way more torque than a comparable gas engine.

1939 dodge passenger car?

Escalades, Expeditions, Hummers, etc. suck because more than 60% of the world's petroleum comes from 5 middle-eastern countries. Training terrorists and getting them into the US is expensive. After 9/11, do you really want to drive (daily, without car-pooling, without a huge family in tow) such a thirsty behemoth? Minivans can haul a family (or a group of co-workers) just as well, but for a few mpg better than those thirsty land yachts.

How to disable the car radio anti theft system?

¹ PMPG is People Miles Per Gallon. The raw mpg figures are EPA estimates and reflect city / highway figures. For PMPG figures, I multiplied the maximum number of passengers by the highway mpg estimate. This gives an estimate of the amount of mpg it takes the given vehicle to move 1 person, based upon a full load of passengers. Higher is better.

Many of the diesel engined cars (VW TDI cars; Mercedes E320 CDI or Bluetech; Jeep Liberty CDI) can also be made to run on bio-diesel (which we can grow locally), or a mixture of bio-diesel and regular, petroleum-based diesel. This can help to curb America's dependence on foreign crude.

Can i drive a scooter in New Zealand without a drivers licence for a car?

they suck because they donot get much more millage than a 11 year old Geo metro non hybrid car and they cost so much more than a regular car you end up paying for the gas you save by the higher car price
