Why do people paint their cars to look like hot wheels?

Its self expression and to be unique. Kind of like art for some. To get attention or make their cars look fast / custom look. I've seen a few with graphics some look pretty good and some are just untasteful.

There is, however, the occasion in which a person uses their car to express themselves just like anyone could use their room, their clothes, or their myspace/facebook/whatever to express themselves. For some, it is truely a hobby of theirs, and to look down upon that is pretty ignorant in and of yourself.

While you have a point that such expendatures are 'wastes of money', so too are decorations for your room, or most clothing and apparel today which many people end up spening MUCH more on than they do their cars.
