Question:
Alright, bought 2 LED strips and a LED toggle switch. Have some questions about install. Each LED has two wires, a bronze (ground) and a silver (power). The switch has 4 prongs, please look at ( http://www.oznium.com/paddle-toggle... ) for diagram.
QUESTION:
Would you ground the bronze wires (ground) of each LED in the respective areas they are placed, attatch both the silver (power) wires to the the OUTPUT 12v prong, then get a enitrely new wire of roughly the same guage from the FUSED 12v prong to a wire i found by the fuses (would i have to put inline fuse in that connection?) and then finially use that same guage wire to connect the GROUND prong to a ground somwhere near the switch. And finally twist a 470 ohm resister between the last 2 prongs on the switch? & do I need any special connectors to attatch the wirers to the prongs on the switch, or can i just twist em on there? & last does the guage of wire really matter for the power supply to switch & gound?
Answers:
Is there more than one manufacturer?
if I read the switch right it is good only to 10 amps. use an inline fuse not to exceed this. if your lights need more than 10A you'll need a bigger switch. you nned to wire the hot to the fused 12 and the output to lights on the 12 output. take a wire to the Chassis/body ground from the ground prong and from a convinient chassis/body ground to the light. install wire on switch with connector that fit the prongs. use #14 AWG up to 15A, #12 up to 20A, #10 to 30A. can't tell you the size of the wire without knowing the light size. total watts/12volts=Amps hope thi help youyes I would use a connector that fits the toggle & attach the wires to that. and wire size does matter to small it will get hot, you don't want a wire thats to big it want hurt but it's big and bulky, check online for the right sizes of wire for different applications. good luck
