Is it bad for a cars engine to drive it hard?

Question:
Will it affect the engine life of a car if it is driven aggressively? Lots of passing on highway etc..

Answers:

uk driving test? how did yours go?

As long as the engine is at operating temp. and has been maintained aggressive driving is ok. Be sure to keep the rpm's below the redline. Aggressive driving can also be hard on the rest of the car. Be sure to check tire pressures and all fluid levels. Regular inspections of the vehicle suspension would also be a good idea.

any one know of any web site or software that lets you see what your car would look like with different wheels

You will not just shorten the engine life span, we also get higher fuel consumption, fast wear off brake pads, tires, transmission, the suspension system etc....

What type of driver are you?

Yes, even in the best of circumstances. The more RPMs an engine endures the sooner it will wear out. They don't last forever and the more abuse an engine receives the more wear on the internal parts and the shorter the engine life will be.
