Question:
I am Interested in buying an Infiniti G-35. The site says it has a "Manu-Matic" transmission. Can anyone explain what it is and how it works?
Anyone else learning to drive feel how i feel?
thanks
Answers:
can be shifted manually, or automatically. it often has a normal gearshift that can be placed in drive (for automatic) or can be moved in to a '+ -' mode (for upshift and downshift)
Why does gas go up in the summer?
Its electronic gear shifting without a clutch. Basically, you can manually select the gear you want to be in but without using a clutch. Sort of like changing gears in a video game. Most manu-matics have a computer override that automatically upshifts when you hit a rev limiter. BMW and Ferrari have the best manu-matic transmissions mostly due to their F1 technology.
It's an automatic transmission with gear selection like in the older classic muscle cars with ratchet type selector on the drive shaft hump.
Kind of like the "slap stick" in the older Dodge Chargers.
If there's no clutch, it's an automatic. Period.
