Question:
When driving my truck, most of the time there is a consistant squeaky noise that sounds like it is coming from inside the dashboard (not positive though). However, sometimes there is no noise at all. I took my truck to a mechanic and they didn't hear anything. I don't think the noise is hurting anything, but I am tired of hearing it. Does anyone know what it could be and how to fix it?

Anyone know of a place that does a NOT so thourough Maine Inspection?
I don't think that there's any way to know for sure, but if it is in the passenger compartment and not the engine compartment, I would start with the blower motor bearing. If it seems to sound like a mouse running around in a squirrel cage, then this is likely to be the cause. See if the sound can be produced by turning the blower on various speeds or temperature settings. If this turns out to be the source, the solution is to replace the blower motor. It's a pretty easy component to replace yourself. Hope this helps.Powering a Vacuum Cleaner via the Cigarette Lighter?

unfortunately have to hear the noise to answer. possible causes are most likely a loose dash bolt under the defrost vent, best thing to do is have someone ride around with you hopefully it will do it, then push around on the dash till you change the noise. that will tell you the erea it is. possible you might have to insulate a part to keep it from rubbing another.Do I go to Germany or get a car?
could be some loose screws holding it in place causing it to rub sometimes...or you could have rats in thereMore Questions & Answers ...
