I would guess that car was around $4300? I know my dad bought a 66 chevelle ss396 for $3400, and I also know that in 1978 My dad bought a new 78 chevy 4x4 for $7500. So I would say between 4 and 5 thousand.

that car now is worth $3400-$3900. i bought a new Dodge in '72 for $3600. i guess Corvettes & Cadilacs at the time were about $10,000. the VW was about $6200 if it was a station wagon. it was a problem to most owners due to the archaic "computer" controlled carb.
