well the toyota prius is a fuel efficent car that gets an average of 55 mpg. its said that in 08 the new prius is estimated to get around 80-110 mpg. the only thing with those cars though is the batteries wear out after 5 years and they cost around 5 grand to fix. you come out on top with saving money but only if you drive it alot. A car would usually be regarded as efficient if it got more than 50 mpg but there are some prototype cars which can get over 100 mpg.Yes, Toyota Prius Hybrid, it can also be converted to a "plug-in hybrid" which makes it even more fuel efficient, costly but possible. Geo Metro is fuel efficient and rather inexpensive. Another option is WVO, (waste vegetable oil), you can buy certain diesel cars/trucks and put on a conversion kit that allows it to run off pure vegetable oil which can be obtained for free. Just do some google searches, wvo, plug in hybrid, geo metro.
