The numbers that you have mentioned are from Tata's trucks, I think. The first one or two digits indicate the load carrying capacity, for example, 407 is a 4 tonner, 1210 is a 10 tonner and so on. The remaining digits indicate the model within that range. But different manufacturers may specify their models in a different manner altogether.
