The vehicle that you are planning on using as a tow vehicle is not designed to pull a 18ft. trailer with a vehicle on it. Your vehicle is good for towing a small travel trailer, boat, light utility trailer. You do have an option use a tow bar, this would allow you to tow the truck, but it changes the dynamics of the towed package. The truck would be now on the ground and you would be able to tow it at about 55 mph. I wouldn't tow it any great distance but I see vehicles here on tow bars headed for Mexico, and they are not planning on stopping at the boarder. In your mind you are saying right now what is the difference between using the trailer and using a tow bar? Simple,with the truck on the ground will change the center of gravity.

Note if you decide to go against my advice at least listen to me now. When you load the truck on the trailer, be very careful as to which way you load it. If you have a lot of weight in the bed of the truck then you might want to back it onto the trailer but if empty you will most likely want to load it with the front forward, KEEP IN MIND THAT THE LOAD NEEDS TO BE HEAVIEST IN FRONT OF THE TRAILER AXLES

Do not attempt to tow a loaded trailer without trailer brakes. Make sure the trailered vehicle is chained down, both front and rear so that it absolutely cannot move or shift its weight suddenly. Make sure the trailer has a valid license plate and a load rating sufficient to carry a Dodge Ram 1500.
