oversteer is the other thing that people(stupid people) sometimes call fishtailing, thats when the lateral G's overcome the tires ability to stick and the *** end slides away instead of following the front. it happens alot to fwd cars with studs only on the front in winter.

it's what happens when you hit the gas too hard and the rear wheels break loose, which in turn you loose control of going straight

I believe its because only the front wheels turn. If the wheels lose traction, turning the wheels may help it gain some resistance. The back wheels just slide over the ice/water. I'm not positive on that.

Why do concept cars never make it to production as is?

I fishtailed in an acura integra, frontwheel drive. I accellerated going downhill and coming out of a turn. All the weight was on the front end and the rear wheels lost traction and still wanted to be going straight while my front wheels were turning with the road. Fishtailing can happen several ways. That's just one I'm very familiar with.
