What is a FORGED PISTON?

Question:
I've heard that forged pistons increase engine performance. Anyway, i don't know what are forged pistons. Can anyone explain me what they are?

Answers:

Honda Integra type R dc5?

Forged pistons do not increase performance. However they are a stronger piston that are capable of handling more power. You can get new forged pistons in a differnt compression ration then you car has stock. Higher compression on a non turbo/supercharged car will increase your horsepower and tq. While a lower compression piston is designed for a turbo or supercharger and generally made stronger to support higher output turbo and superchargers.

Go crazy..What should I do to my car...?

A forged piston is "Hammered " into shape....while compared to a stock "cast" piston which the metal is poured into a cast. The forged is hammered into shape and is much harder and will handle alot more horsepower than a cast piston.

how old do you have to be to get your drivers licenses in California?

forged is a way to make metal harder it is better because it least longer and can handle more horses and nitro shots
