Yous could hook a good mule to that ther car and just stop now and again letting him eat and drink alittle.cars need gas because that's the only way the government makes real money and it's the only way they want us to refuel our cars. they know we need it, so they use the most costly goods to make us pay more to the government.

cars need gasoline because that is the fuel that they have been designed to run on. Back in the good old days gasoline was cheap and plentiful. It was a byproduct created when they refined oil into Kerosene. Since it was so cheap and plentiful, and since it worked so well that is what we use.There are other types of engines that use other fuels. Diesel engines run on what is essentially home heating oil. The design of the engine allows it to run on almost anything actually. You can even use old used fry oil from a restaurant.. so called "bio-diesel". There are also cars that run on natural gas, ( like the Honda Civic GX ) but they are less common.

The internal combustion engine can and will run on anything that is able to vaporize into an air/fuel mix that will give enough power to push the piston down. Unfortunately, things like kerosene, although it will burn, doesn't have enough energy to be efficient. Various gasses, propane, butane, even natural gas, can do an adequate job.
