For clear coated wheels, use the same thing you would for cleaning off your paint, soap and water, and when necessary, tar remover (mineral spirits) or a grease remover. Same applies for painted aluminum wheels, many aluminum wheels have paint on the insides of the spokes or holes, like a sparkle silver (metallic silver) or graphite grey color, this is a sure sign they're clear-coated.
If you have bare aluminum polished wheels, then a good aluminum polish works awesome. I also used to use Eagle1 for my polished wheels I had (the ones I have now are clear-coated).
