you just will not get a personal parking space specifically for yourself just because you are disabled .what if there was 50 people with the same level of disablement in your street would the whole street then be full of diasbled parking bays for each of you? i think not

I havr the same problem,though i'm not disabled,unless you count 2 kids. The simple answer is you can't,the council would never grant you something that would benefit you like that. There's probably other people on your street who are feeling the same as you,when you have to park on a residential street it's first come first served,or luck. You could try getting together with your neighbours and approaching the council,maybe ask for business permits to be stopped if you have those in your area. Good luck.Most Handicapped are in large lots only.usually. If you have seen them on city streets I guess it is possible. Call your local City Hall and inquire. If you have a pass on you car. or a tag for your car then I would think you are already eligible. The issue would now be are there other handicap accessible folks that will snag that spot. Call City Hall and all Handicapped spots are city ordinances and therefore enforceable.

Unlike one answer just to clarify disabled parking bays on the highway are legally enforceable, its unlikely you will get one outside your house for your personal use, they are normally only provided in areas such as town centres for use by any disabled person. As one person suggested your best bet may be to talk nicely to your neighbours
