I suppose you could, but I wouldn't recomend it. Only use first gear when you are first pulling out from a stop.

yes, but dont go too fast or you'll slow down really fast (like slamming on the brake). many people slow down using the gears and shifting down.

Whoops, my bad. I read 70mph. If you are doing 7 then chances are you can downshift into first. It isn't normally done, because you are already in the 2nd gear range and just accelerate in second.

It's not a good idea to downshift into first because the gearing is pretty high and it takes a little practice and it's hard on the syncros.

Why aren't radio antennas inside of front windows any more?

It is harder to shift from 2nd into 1st, because you can over rev the engine going into the lower gear with the motor revving high. It is best to only shift down into 1st from a higher gear when you are idling at a stop.
