Yes they do work by reflecting the sun instead of the seats absorbing the rays.They do make the solar powered fans that can be attached to the window and they keep the hot out but you still need AC.

Yes the metallic window covers work. I don't rememberwhere I saw it but there are these things you stick in
the top of the window and it is supposed to blow
the hot air out and keep your car at a comfortable
temperature in the 75 range or something like that.

Yes, they work. But remember the back window and sides, too, get sunlight, which fry your ride. Light colored bath towels tucked up in the side windows and tint your rear window, if possible(available in the yellow pages or even do-it-yourself kits at Napa or CarQuest, etc.)Wish we had your problem on these cold and dreary days...T-storms tonight and snow tomorrow!
