I am guessing that this question came up in boating because of gelcoat? However, thre is a material on the market to coat the inside of a bathtub. Gelcoat is a 2 step, mixing process. I havae used it to patch, but not to coat. I would stick with the product made for bathtubs. Then follow the directions on the container.

Not recommended as the gelcoat would be on the outside of the bath, keeping the water inside. Therefore water would attack the fibreglass and turn it to acetic acid, osmosis will do the rest. It'll degrade in a year of so with continual exposure towater on the glass fibre
