Hi I have a mariner 40HP outboard approx 1985 recently fitted with a rectifier.?

Question:
It does not charge the battery and I need a wiring diagram covering the switch box, stator and rectifier plus details on tests that can be undertaken to work out what is not working.

Its probably your charge coil? Get a workshop manual and work through the electrical troubleshooting section. You will need a multimeter for the tests.

with a hot battery & a new rectifier, assuming no broken wires, the only thing left is the stator.....unless you're one in a million & have a bad flywheel. if the engine runs, you don't have a bad flywheel.
