Question:
The Vindo is a ship full of fertiliser that was recently set adrift in the North Sea.
Answers:
If the ship had of collided then the most you would have gotten was a load crash and a few bits of bent metal as most of the rig is alot higher than the ships structure. As the rig was unmanned it was all closed down and there would have been no risk of explosion. The wind wouldhave blown away any leaking gas before it had a chance to mix with any sparks. Any fires would have been put out by the Vindo's crew who would all be well trained in fire fighting.

Fishing Boats: Is a Wellcraft boat really identical to its corresponding Riviera model?
gas bills would have gone up again....lolHow fast was 22 knots on the Titanic? like, how many mph?
the sea is a HUGE place, the chances of this happening are millions to one.In the unlikely event that a collision was imminent, the gas rig has special safety valves under the sea bed that they can close.
When a ship, boat is given a male name, is it referred in a male gender as is "he is a good ship"?
These rigs all have powerful "stand by vessels" which would probably try to nudge the drifiting ship out of the way as a last resort.
Has anyone had a bad experience with a home generator from Guardian ?
No rig could stand a collison by a drifiting ship. The results would be horrible.
how to obtain information on how to charter and skipper my own boat in the Caribbeans?
There would have been a huge explosion. And it would have fvcking stank!Florida boating st. johns river?
We could have all sang the "Vindo Loo Song"!when replacing flooring in a boat, what kind of flooring should i use?
vey unliely to happen but probably not much unless there was also very heavy weather as well. Things which are just floating don;t really have much force in them and certainly not enough to severly damage a massive structure like an oil rig. However if a storm, threw it at it.....unlikely to go boom unless there was a spark bit would be big damange
I can't imagine that the fact it was carrying fertiliser would have made it any worse, to make explosives from fertiliser you need other things present, the platform wouldn't have exploded because they would have turned the well head off, so i guess the worse scenario would have been that the platform would have collapsed onto the ship after the impact and the lot would have gone down, all that would depend on whether it was a glancing blow or a direct hit, anyway it missed!!
why are propellers made of bronze?
Hopefully, nothing, the rigs were shut down. However, nitrate fertiliser makes a pretty good bang, ask the boys across the water.Where can I get a 1991 sunbird?
the rig crew would not have let the ship hit the platformMore Questions & Answers ...
