Can you jump in to the sea from 100ft and survive?

Any recommendations for a good depth finder for my husband's boat in the $120-$150 range?

+ people have survived things like falling from a yard arm into the sea, or off of the deck of an aircraft carrier, so it is possible. It is more likely that you will be injured, and that most of those that fall from that height drown because of the other injuries keeping them from being able to swim or float. If you had to, try "Mike D's" technique as it sounds the best if you had time to execute it. Hope the water is deep enough. Mike should also have mentioned to hold your breath?
GOOD LUCK

How many days does it take for a ship to cross the Atlantic from Gibraltar to Norfolk?

Yes if the water is deep enough. Try to stay upright with your foot both together. I would not chance any further drop than 30 mtrs.(100 feet)

What is the official distinction between a "boat" and a "ship"?

Yes but would probably depend upon the shape of the body when hitting the water probably feet first or head first as in a dive would be best. After all high divers and cliff divers do it on a regular basis.

An old song about life on a whaling ship included these lyrics "clear away the running gear and blow ye winds

If you stay straight upright then you'll have a chance.
In any other position you the water turns into a plank and you won't make it.

do you need a boaters licence in florida if you are 28 and can drive very well no drivers licence sus 4 dumfee

I've done 65 ft into a quarry 2x. You have enough time in the air to think complete thoughts like "Why did I do this? I can't believe I am not at the water yet. This was a really bad idea." You can scream long enough that you have to take another breath to continue screaming. I highly recommend a 65 ft/20m drop. Keep in mind that acceleration in a gravitational field is 32ft/s/s or 9.8m/s/s so in a 100ft/30m drop you will be going MUCH faster (too drunk to do the math) when you hit the water. You must keep your hands and feet together, wear shoes, full pants, and long sleeve shirt. Point your toes and try to keep your body as vertical as possible. The first jump I did my butt was slightly out and it felt like someone kicked me in the @ss as hard as they could. The second jump I was straight but tilted slightly forward and it felt like I got punched on both sides of my face simultaneously. There was no third jump, but I still have full functionality in my extremities (touch wood).

will be ok to sail from Dover to Eastbourne in a yacht tomorrow?

Hi >
The simple answer is OK if you hit the surface in a decent manner. I've jumped into the briny from about 80ft in the Mid-East.,
splooshed feet-first with arms aloft.
Scary, but I am obviously here to tell the tale without injury.
Another 20ft should be OK. The falling is not a problem, just hit the surface cleanly and smoothly, and all is well.
As long as it is not three feet deep !

A boat Question?

Even at a full gallop, I couldn't jump 100 feet into the sea. It's easier to just wade in.
