Question:
As stated I'm looking for insurance for an older (1970) sailboat in above average condition.
located in So. Calif.
Answers:
With the insistence of the Government to have vessels insured. Insurance companies have loosened up a bit on what they will insure. Question: Do you need full insurance on a boat that old or would liability do you? I own a 1978 Lancer 29 that I have insured with All State liability only for $116.00 a year.. $58 a policy period. Of course they also have all my other insurance but since my baby is getting along in years insuring for value didn't make sense. First time I put in a claim even for scraping the bumbers on the slip and leaving a mark on the gel-coat they would total my boat... So think about liability only... Jim
Me too but it is a 1987 Sea Ray. But we have found a company but we had to get a survey first.
We used United Marine Underwriters at 1-800-477-7140
Cost lots though.
Survey was around 600.00 and it had to be in dry dock.
Sail on.
